Welcome to my website

Hello my friends, this is Shasha Wu. Welcome to visit my website. I got my PhD degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in August, 2005 from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and I have been teaching computer science classes with Spring Arbor University since then.  I also received my M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2003 and B.E. degree in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1997. My research interests lie in the database and information systems, information visualization, software engineering, and the collaborative research areas between such disciplines. I am particularly interested in:

  • Database management systems with emphasis in spatiotemporal/constraint databases,
  • Information visualization theories and applications with emphasis in data visualization,
  • GIS applications in agriculture, environment and medicine,
  • Software engineering with emphasis in software modeling/reusing and analysis patterns, and
  • Collaborative research areas between such disciplines.

My current research projects are:

  • MLPQ system: as one of the world's most sophisticated constraint database systems, it has been used in the teaching of advanced databases at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, San Jose State University and Georgia Southern University. The major improvements I did for the system include web accessibility, support of recursive SQL query language, and a friendly user interface.
Downloads: Executable files, Sample databases, ArcGIS data translator
  • WeNiVIS system: a spatiotemporal information system designed to track and reason the spread of West Nile Virus epidemic.
  • DOAS system: a web-based information system designed to visualize the drought conditions in Nebraska.
  • RecIV system: a web-based information system designed to visualize recursively defined spatiotemporal information.

Prior to my graduate studies in Nebraska, I have been the director and major developer of the following commercial software systems:

  • SunyERP: a business information system focuses on sales management and analysis.
  • FAS2000: a large business information system with many detachable functional modules, which include sales and inventory management, accounting and financial management, HR management, manufacturing requirements planning (MRP), workflow subsystem, and report system, etc.
